Millionaires aren’t afraid of embarrassment

I love to sing and I used to fantasize about being a singer; but I had a big obstacle standing in my way. I was/am afraid to sing in front of people. I have a big voice that’s capable of singing opera, with some fine-tuning; but people don’t know that about me because, to sing opera you really have to get into the art with your body, mind and soul. You can’t be self-conscious and sing well. This is true even if you’re singing pop songs. You need the ability to rise above your self-consciousness. I’ve never been able to rise above my self-consciousness and eventually I just stopped singing. Lots of dreams die that way. People are afraid of embarrassment. They dread looking like a fool so they avoid anything that could potentially make people laugh at them.
Millionaires don’t let a little thing like embarrassment stand between them and their ambition of making money. It’s usually a steep climb to the top and most people will endure a few falls. You can’t be afraid of falling because of how people will look at you, what they will say, how they will point and laugh in your face or behind your back. Well, you can be afraid, actually, just not so afraid that you decide to play it safe and not try to go after your dreams.
